Hosting Sunday dinner!

We had 24 people over for Sunday lunch/dinner. Mary, an American girl in our ward is an au pair for a family of here in France, it was her birthday on Saturday and I offered to have a birthday dinner at our house on Sunday! It was very fun. We know 2 other American au pairs, one is Mary’s friend from Utah, Andrea, and the other is Megan from Ohio, we met her from our French classes (Kurt, Mary, Megan and I all have french class together). All of them are really great girls. We had 4 french families from our ward and the missionaries over also. One missionary is from, Germany, another, Switzerland, next from Tahiti, and lastly from Utah, they are great young men. We had a great time trying to talk some French with our new friends. Most of the people speaks some English but I really hope I will be able to speak French with them soon. It is really a hard language to learn, but I am going to keep trying. We roasted some chestnuts after dinner. I had never had chestnuts before I came to France. We have a tree in our yard which will supply us with more than we will need for a year. All I can think about is that Christmas song that starts…Chestnuts roasting on an open fire…that is exactly what we did! They are very good and sweet.
